Author Bio

Shawn Smith is an author, librarian, and missionary. Her passion for literature began as a young girl when she devoured the books in her dad's small Christian bookstore. She later served as a missionary in a remote jungle tribe of Papua New Guinea. There, she homeschooled her three daughters and wrote stories for them since there was almost no access to good reading material. She now channels her love for history and storytelling into her writing. Her debut novel, The Freedom Chain, is a historical adventure that’s captured hearts and topped Amazon’s charts.

Beyond her professional and writing pursuits, Shawn is a wife to the love of her life and mother to three incredible daughters. As the youngest (and whackiest) of nine siblings, she learned early on to thrive in chaos and cherish family bonds. Her personal experiences and deep faith influence her writing, making her stories relatable and inspiring.

She's been featured on Fox News Carolina's Midday News Program. You can follow her on social media and learn more about her at scribblesbyshawn.com.
